Excursions
There’s
plenty to do in and around Dalyan without being organised – but if you’ve had
your fill of the beach and lake, you might want to try the following…
Gocek’s 12 Islands Cruise
A wonderful lazy day exploring the Turquoise Coast around Gocek with lunch,
swim spots and a chance of seeing dolphins.
Ephesus
Visit the spectacular Roman city of Ephesus,
one of the wonders of the Ancient World and one of the largest and best
preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean. It is a stunning experience to
walk through its marble streets and to admire the well-preserved library,
amphitheatre and statue of the goddess Artemis. Ephesus is about 3 hours away
from Dalyan.
Pamukkale
Pamukkale
is a series of petrified waterfalls in the middle of Turkey’s cotton
producing area, which is why it is known locally as the cotton castle. It
originates with a spring saturated with dissolved calcium and the water cascades
over a series of terraces, some shaped like water lilies, others like shells.
You can walk along the terraces or bathe in the warm water of the spa
complex. You may wish to combine a trip to Ephesus and Pamukkale staying
overnight in Pamukkale.
Trout lunch at Yuvarlakcay
Relax on cushions over fast running water and feast on freshly cooked trout
or oven-baked lamb. This mountain retreat is the perfect escape from the
summer heat. If you’re feeling energetic you can walk to the source of the
Yuvarlakcay River.
Saklikent & Tlos Combine history and adventure, with a visit to
the Lycian city of Tlos and a challenging ramble through the hidden canyon at
Saklikent.
From scuba diving to white
water rafting, mountain biking to water-skiing – all are available in
or near Dalyan. All the above can be taken as organised trips but if
you want to adventure under your own steam, car hire is available or
you can rent a bike to explore the local area. Click here
for details from the Kaunos Tours website.
